We Are English Major

That picture above is from Cannes, France, 2014. Pregnant with Emma, baby #4, at the Cannes Ad Festival for David to speak at a couple sessions about brand music in advertising and win a few awards... It's a fun "work" travel memory. 

David and I started English Major, LLC in 2009.  David, as a Senior Writer in 2008 had been put on the FreeCreditReport.com account.  They were set to leave the Martin Agency in search of another ad agency, but had a radio campaign to produce before bouncing.  

Well, David's concept was a band singing about bad credit problems. And that concept turned from a "final radio spot" into a thriving ongoing relationship between Martin Agency and Experian for another 5+ years.  With over 20 TV commercials, a fully-integrated live band search and the best of online and offline marketing tactics coming together to drive traffic to this credit report site, results skyrocketed and you probably still remember these songs.  

"They say a man should always dress for the jobs he wants. So why'm I dressed up like a Pirate in a restaurant?"

These TV commercials haunted Americans for years... including Stephen King who wrote about being haunted by the musical earworms and Mick Jagger told the world on Saturday Night Live in his opening monologue on May 19, 2012, that FreeCreditReport.com was his favorite band. 

These TV commercials he wrote as a copywriter at Martin Agency were completely music based, but this was a new type of thing. David was the concept developer, script writer, lyric writer and the music composer versus hiring a music house to build out a "song idea," which is what typically happens in advertising. 

After doing a deep dive into the music production industry, I realized what needed to happen... We needed to be English Major. Me as the Business Agent. David as the Music Guy.
